About Solidarita

Better Coffee, Together.

Welcome to Solidarita. If you’ve ever felt intimidated by a coffee menu, confused by a bag of beans, or just wondered why your home brew doesn’t taste like the café down the street—you are in the right place.

Solidarita is your daily guide to the complex, caffeinated, and wonderful world of coffee. We believe that great coffee isn’t just for professionals in aprons; it’s for everyone.

The Mission

The coffee world can sometimes feel exclusive. There’s a lot of jargon (TDS? Anaerobic fermentation? WDT tools?) and expensive gear.

Our mission is simple: To democratize coffee excellence. We stand in solidarity with the home brewer. Whether you are using a $10 French Press or a $2,000 espresso machine, we want to help you make the best cup of your life, every single morning.

Meet Mary

Hi, I’m Mary.

I am the founder and lead editor here at Solidarita.

I didn’t start as a coffee expert. Years ago, I was just someone trying to wake up in the morning, drowning my tastebuds in sugar to mask the bitterness of bad grocery store beans.

My journey began with a single moment of curiosity: Why was that one cup I had in a tiny shop so much better than what I made at home?

That curiosity turned into an obsession. I spent years working as a barista, training with Q-graders, experimenting with extraction science, and ruining a few kitchen counters with coffee grounds along the way. I learned that coffee is part art, part science, and fully community.

I created Solidarita to be the resource I wish I had when I started. I’m here to translate the barista science into plain English, test the gear so you don’t have to, and help you find the joy in the ritual of brewing.

What You’ll Find Here

Solidarita is organized to help you navigate your coffee journey, no matter where you are starting:

  • Manual Brewing Mastery: Perfect your Pour Over, French Press, and AeroPress technique.

  • The Espresso Lab: Demystifying the shot, from tamping to latte art.

  • Gear & Grinders: Honest reviews on what’s worth your money (and what’s hype).

  • Bean Knowledge: Understanding origins, roasts, and processing methods.

  • Troubleshooting: Fixing sour, bitter, or weak coffee instantly.

Why “Solidarita”?

The name is a nod to Solidarity. Coffee is a global effort. It connects the farmers in Ethiopia and Colombia, the roasters in your local city, and you—the final step in the chain—brewing in your kitchen. We are all part of this massive, delicious community.

So, grab your favorite mug. Let’s brew something amazing together.
