Hittin’ Season #545: Is Alec Bohm on the trading block?

Is Alec Bohm on the trading block?

If you read the tea leaves, as well as The Jim Salisbury Story of NBC Sports as of this week there is smoke around the idea that third baseman Alec Bohm, the former No. 3 overall pick in 2018 MLB Draft, could be on the move ahead of the Phillies’ camp break in a few weeks. In his story, Salisbury noted that, on his first day with the team, newly acquired Nick Castellanos took grounders at third base. And while manager Joe Girardi pooped the idea that this meant anything other than Castellanos simply enjoying taking balls in training, Salisbury noted:

Nonetheless, Castellanos’ work at third base is interesting as that position still looks unstable 16 days to opening day. Alec Bohm doesn’t seem to have locked down the job. In fact, there’s a believable buzz that it could be used in a trade. Newcomer Johan Camargo has plenty of major league experience in the position and has batted well so far in camp.

It might not be so revealing, but on the Phillies.com Depth Chartthey have third base ranked as follows:
