JT Miller Available on Trade Block, Penguins Luck is Running Out

Luck finally ran out on the Pittsburgh Penguins’ winning streak, and one of the NHL’s worst teams took advantage of the Penguins’ lackluster play. Evander Kane has a new home and Connor McDavid has gone to bat for his new teammate. Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand has become a social media staple and he’s shredded the Phoenix/Arizona/Arizona State Coyotes. Will new Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin put JT Miller on the NHL’s trading block, and will the New York Rangers pursue him?

Plus, Trevor Zegras has done it again.

We’ll start with Boston reporter Matt Kalman, who will take care of Brad Marchand, who flew against the Arizona Coyotes.

In the immortal words of Michael Kelso to Eric Forman, BURN!

Pittsburgh Penguins:

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Comprehensive analysis of Ron Hextall’s presser and his cryptic insights into Penguins core Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin.

The Penguins lost to the Seattle Kraken, 2-1. A loss means the winning streak is over and Penguins fans read nothing about the game. We understand.

PHN+: Yeah, the Penguins had it all planned out. They have lived on the razor’s edge and have been dominated too often over the past two weeks. A course correction is needed for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

NHL Trade Chatter, New & National Hockey Now:

Daily Face-to-Face: Former Penguins AGM Patrik Allvin is the Canucks’ general manager. What is the first? And what about JT Miller – there’s a lot of interest in Miller, including the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins, in the NHL commercial market, but the price will not be cheap.

Sources also confirmed to National Hockey Now that Miller can be bought and the price rivals that of Jakob Chychrun.

Sportsnet: Evander Kane agreed to terms with the Edmonton Oilers Thursday night. Captain Connor McDavid went to bat for his new beleaguered teammate.

San Jose: Here’s the full story from every angle on the now-old San Jose Sharks winger.

Calgary Hockey Now: Could the Oilers get stronger? How does this affect their main rival, the Calgary Flames?

Question — He didn’t get as much press. Yet just after 5 p.m. EST, the NHL released the findings of its investigation, which found insufficient evidence that Kane knowingly crossed the Canadian border in defiance of COVID rules. If that was the basis for the San Jose Sharks contract termination, how can the Sharks legally terminate the deal and not hit a massive salary cap if the player has done nothing wrong?

Vancouver: Police charged Jake Virtanen with sexual assault. Through its agent, the Vancouver Canucks player released a statement.

Montreal: On lighter news. Trevor Zegras has done it again. Dude went full “Michigan” for a goal against Montreal Canadiens.

The next time a player even thinks of trying this, the defender who shamelessly flattens the offending player will be my new favorite.

Washington: How do you get a warm-up puck in DC? Interrogate? Beg? No, you offer Alex Ovechkin a Twix bar.

Detroit: Steve Yzerman was a guest on TNT. As his team got hammered, the Detroit Red Wings General Manager rolled them.
