Governor Kate Brown today announced details of her upcoming trip to Vietnam to attend the Vietnam-US Business Forum 2022. The Governor will be in Vietnam from November 11 to 18, 2022. During her stay, she will promote trade, exports, education and strategic partnerships. Public and private sector representatives will join the governor as part of the delegation, including representatives from Business Oregon, the Oregon Department of Agriculture, Portland State University and the Port of Portland. .
“From semiconductors to the apparel industry to wheat and commodities, Vietnam is a critical trading partner for Oregon,” Governor Brown said. “As Vietnam’s economy continues to grow, it is important for us to maintain our cooperation in trade and investment, educational exchanges and economic development.”
Vietnam is Oregon’s eighth-largest export market, with more than $1 billion in exports in 2021, largely thanks to Vietnam’s large manufacturing sector. Since the opening of Intel’s test and assembly plant in Vietnam in 2010, Oregon’s electronics and computer parts exports to Vietnam have grown significantly, accounting for nearly 80% of India’s trade. While in Vietnam, the governor will participate in bilateral business meetings with government leaders, business development meetings and women’s leadership meetings. She will also visit educational establishments and participate in Vietnam Food Expo 2022. She will also meet with representatives of companies operating in Oregon and Vietnam, including Nike, Intel, Columbia Sportswear and Adidas.
The Governor will also mark the tenth anniversary of the statewide partnership between the Oregon National Guard and the Vietnam National Committee for Incidents, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue.
