New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced major programs to promote the AYUSH industry in the country.

The Prime Minister announced at the event three important programs for the traditional medicine sector of AYUSH brand, AYUSH parks and AYUSH visa, which the Center will soon implement.

“India will soon introduce a special category of AYUSH visa for foreign nationals who wish to come to India to avail AYUSH therapy,” Modi informed.

Giving the example of Kerala, the Prime Minister said that medical tourism especially herbal treatment in the southern state has increased its tourism sector.

“Heal in India could be the biggest brand of the decade and boost medical tourism in the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, Modi also said that following the model of the ISI brand, the Center is also working on the AYUSH brand which will be specifically provided for traditional medicine products.

“We are going to create a special AYUSH mark. This mark will be applied to the highest quality AYUSH products made in India,” he announced.

Modi said the move will amplify the credibility of Made In India AYUSH products and also increase confidence in the traditional medicine system.

He also announced that a network of AYUSH parks will be established across India where research and development on AYUSH drugs will take place.

“This will open avenues for innovation in the sector while providing credible, science-based data on traditional medicines. The drug data from the parks will enable more scientific clinical trials of AYUSH drugs,” Modi added.

Meanwhile, Modi also announced an important development for farmers in planting herbs which is currently in the planning stage.

He said the government is developing a portal to create a digital marketplace to facilitate farmers with businesses working in the AYUSH sector.

“It is very important that the farmers involved in the cultivation of medicinal herbs have the opportunity to easily connect to the market. For this, the government is working on an AYUSH electronic market portal where the farmers cultivating medicinal herbs can collaborate with the products pharmaceutical companies and companies working in the sector,” said Modi.
