The LA Sync trade mission organized by BPI, MPA and DIT returns from September 12 to 16


The annual music industry trade mission to Los Angeles is back, and this year, after a three-year hiatus that saw travel replaced by webinars, it will take place in person between 12and – 16and September 2022.

Hosted by the iconic East-West Studios At the heart of Hollywoodthis popular industry event supports the continued growth of UK music exports by fostering demand for music written and composed by UK artists and songwriters that is featured in film, TV and video game soundtracks and TV/radio adverts – worth over £30m to the UK recorded music sector in 2021, according to the BPI in its All About Music 2022 yearbook (+47.6% compared to 2020).

The five-day mission is a broad and dynamic mix of panels, site visits, hands-on sessions, meetings and keynote speakers, as well as an exclusive networking reception hosted in honor of delegates hosted by the Consul British general, Emily Cloke.

The annual LA Sync mission gives UK record label and music publishing executives a unique insight into how the lucrative US synchronization licensing market works. The mission also provides participants with an invaluable opportunity to connect with each other and meet many of the key players and decision makers in the synchronization world working in the television, film, advertising and gaming markets in the media capital of the United States – the largest entertainment market in the world.

Now approaching 20and year, the mission allows UK music companies and individuals to meet key executives responsible for placing music in film – in the past, including star wars, Whiplash, Kong: Skull Island, Moonlight and Dunkirk; TV shows such as NCIS, The good wife, stranger thingsand american gothic; and video games including Assassin’s Creed, Fifaand Forza Horizon 2. Recent successful sync placements on the back of these sessions include tracks that were in the multiple awards The shape of water and the No. 1 box office Halloween hit Boo 2: A Halloween Madeaas good as star wars franchise, Amazon Prime Coming 2 America and those of Netflix Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The LA Sync Mission is co-hosted by the Association of British Record Companies BPIthe Association of Music Publishers (AMP) and the International Trade Department (DIT), and is open to all UK and other music companies who are actively engaged in Sync’s business.
