With many pandemic restrictions lifted, the province’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade is ready for more travel.
“It’s about re-engagement,” said Ontario Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli.
Fedeli leaves on Friday to fly to Korea and make a stopover in Japan before returning home. A top priority will be to visit senior executives of a company that has announced a major investment in the Windsor area.
“We will visit LGES, the company that is building a $5.5 billion battery facility in Windsor, we will visit them to say thank you,” he says.
Additionally, Fedeli wants to talk to LG Energy Solution (LGES) business leaders about the companies needed to keep the plant running.
“This Windsor plant is just the start,” he says. “All auxiliary companies are needed to feed this beast. It’s big. Really serious business for Windsor.
Besides LGES, Fedeli wants to travel to Japan to meet with representatives from Honda, Toyota and Panasonic, before making the return trip on September 9.
He says he’s unlikely to have an immediate announcement when he arrives home, but hopes there will be an announcement before late fall.
“I would like to come back in a few months with something new for Ontario,” he says.
