U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Grants Patent to Edgewater Wireless

OTTAWA, Canada–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (TSXV: YFI) (OTC: KPIFF), the industry leader in Spectrum Slicing Wi-Fi technology for the residential and enterprise markets, is pleased to announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) has granted the patent US Number 11,356,308; titled “Automatic Gain Control (AGC) for Multichannel/Wideband Communications System”, marking successful completion of the rigorous USPTO patent process and securing a key technology element of spectrum slicing.

With more than 25 patents granted by the USPTO, Edgewater continues to show its ongoing commitment to protecting its innovations and positioning the company for future growth. This strategy, aimed at innovating on both the hardware and implementation side, extends across spectrum slicing to support the growing value of Edgewater’s intellectual property (IP) assets as the company delivers its next-generation, split-spectrum Wi-Fi – today.

“As we begin to view our patent portfolio as an additional source of revenue for the company, this new patent adds value to the company and to our shareholders,” said Eric Smith, vice president of product. Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. “This award energizes our current efforts to produce and package our technology for OEMs.

USPTO 11,356,308: Automatic Gain Control (AGC) for Multi-Channel/Broadband Communication System

The automatic gain control (AGC) system for multi-channel signals attenuates an incoming multi-channel signal by providing gain. The system further adjusts each individual channel of the multi-channel signal providing a second gain if necessary. The AGC system is designed to ensure that the received signal power is at an optimum level for analog-to-digital conversion or any other form of signal processing. The system also eliminates mid-pack gain adjustments.

Edgewater Spectrum Slicing is a highly advanced signal processing technique that allows multiple radio (Wi-Fi) channels, or links, to operate in the same Wi-Fi band within the same coverage area. Spectrum slicing dramatically reduces co-channel (CCI) and adjacent-channel (ACI) interference.

This additional patent award further solidifies our leadership in Multi-Link Operation (MLO), arguably the most important feature of the WiFi7 specification. Edgewater Spectrum Slicing is the only technology that forces multiple available channels, or links, within a single Wi-Fi band, enabling the highest link density in the industry, improving 50% latency and increasing overall Wi-Fi throughput 7-18x in real world Wi-Fi environments.

About Edgewater Wireless

We make Wi-Fi. Better.

Edgewater Wireless (www.edgewaterwireless.com) is the industry leader in innovative spectrum slicing technology for the residential and commercial markets. We develop advanced Wi-Fi silicon solutions, access points and IP licenses designed to meet the high density, high quality of service needs of service providers and their customers. With an extensive family of patents, Edgewater’s Multi-Channel, Single Radio (MCSR) technology is revolutionizing Wi-Fi, delivering next-generation Wi-Fi today.

Edgewater Physical Layer Spectrum Slicing Allows you to split or slice a frequency band to allow more radios to operate in a given area. Think about Spectrum slicing such as going from a single-lane road to a multi-lane highway, regardless of Wi-Fi technology. Recently completed proof-of-concept (PoC) with a leading Tier 1 service provider showed performance gains of 7 to 18 times higher in 75% of households surveyed. Interestingly, homes with the most appliances saw the biggest improvements.
